Listen-in to the State of the Christian Left, with Mark Sandlin from the God Article. We engage the fall-out from Tucson, AZ, Healthcare Reform, and the future of the Christian Left. Enjoy. 1 Comment Yesterday, I sat, watching Barack Obama give the sermon, er, speech of his life. I felt transformed, renewed, and refreshed after his words concluded. Across the country words of support poured in, and people became changed. Indeed, he rose above the petty blame-game and united people.
After the speech many news outlets invited pundits on to argue about the speech. I did not watch. I simply turned on CSPAN and watched him as he moved through the arena, shaking hands and speaking with people. He was a pastor yesterday evening. The following is part of a new poetry project that re-imagines hymns from "The Baptist Hymnal" published in 1991. Along the way I will post some of the poems. Enjoy. "The Last Stanza” Poetry Project
©J. Zachary Bailes, 2011 #113 – We Three Kings We three kings have risked our lives in pursuit of all. Of power. Of control. Of people. Of all. We never stopped being kings. We only found that nobody ever wins. When you’re a king someone is always happier when you’re not there. |
